A little over a week ago, I was searching for a music program that our children could use at home. We have a dvd program but it only didn't meet our need. After much researching, I came across a thread on a forum that mentioned a few programs including SM. I checked them all out and SM clearly took the cup. I shared the info. with hubby and we watched youtube after youtube of the children that used the program. The youtube "Learning piano with Soft Mozart. Results in 8 years" sold the program to us.
Our children are 8,6,4 and began to show interest in music when they were younger. Last year we got them a keyboard and prayed that God would lead us to a way for them to learn a musical instrument. I have been searching a while for a program like this that we can learn at home and I believe God led us to SM. This meets our needs and we are eager to get started on this journey.
Installation took a while but we got it right on the third midi usb cable which we got at a music store.
I had to download a couple of applications, 7-zip and midisport uno driver before I could get the Gentle Piano demo to work. We had sound problems but hubbie's magic touch got it working. Our children started playing on the demo on Tuesday and they loved it. We are still getting acquainted with it but so far it's going great. I am also reading Ms. Hellene's book which I find quite insightful. She dispels a lot of myths I had growing up regarding music and even art talent. She has me convinced that successful piano playing is attainable for anyone willing to work at it.
I have to say SM is a fantastic program which really keeps the children engaged and learning. Today our son said that SM taught him a whole lot more about music than the dvd program. They are learning faster than me so I am the one asking them what I need to do. We will be purchasing the year long subscription soon. I wanted to share what our experience has been so far with the demo. We love it!!
