Practice looking good!
Are you ready for the Piano Recital?

Hopefully, we have been working really hard I am just not sure she will be able to play from memory for it. We are planning to record either this week or next, it will definitely be recorded and posted before the 15th of June.

Okay so the month of May! Yay! We tried to work really hard during the month of May, the kids were sick with some pretty bad coughs and fever but we tried to practice as much as possible to get ready for the recital.

Best,
Christine :cheer:

We are also up to chapter 3 of Kingdom of Tune.
We plan to work throughout summer to be ready for the new school year, since we fell a little behind this year. Anyway, looking forward to posting out recital and viewing all of yours.

Hey Everyone,
I know the semester is over but we are continuing to work throughout the summer. We worked through June and the beginning of July, trying to hit spots that need work or review.

Isabella has a higher chair now which has seemed to help her with her lessons.

We have been reviewing scales like Re-Re and Mi-Mi. We are trying to cover things that we had missed during the semester since we had fallen behind. We have continued to work with Guess Key School and alternating games like Note Duration, Note Alphabet, Treble Puzzle and Bass Puzzle each day. We have been practicing Hanon, although she does it pretty well, we wanted to focus a little more on it because it was a little bit difficult for her.

Isabella just started the chromatic scale yesterday with her right hand from Do-Do forward and backward. She is doing really well.

However, I do not know what to practice when it comes to songs. She knows a lot of pieces but not by heart she can play them well on P1 or P3 even P2 and P4. Where do I start on trying to memorize the pieces? I understand to break up a song to by four and do it on the right side and left side and I don't want to overwhelm her and myself with songs. What songs should we work on? For June and the part of July we have been working on Turkish March, Ode to Joy and A New Year's Tree. (The only song that she knows by heart is Hot Cross Buns and maybe French Song)

Here is our progress:
I don't have the progress from before June 30th even though we did do work on those days, I seemed to misplace the records.

So again what songs should we work on learning by heart since she only knows Hot Cross Buns and French Song.

I also wanted to include this photo of my daughter Isabella (4 years) and son Anthony (he was about 9 or 10 months there) playing piano together.

He likes to watch his sister do her piano lessons as well as "play" the piano himself (he just bangs on the keys) I try to play notes for him so he can learn the sounds. He will also be a Soft Mozart student.

Best,
Christine

Hello, Christine!
I read your post, but didn't have a chance to answer. I am so proud of you for your achievements!

:woohoo:

Great to hear that!

She is just 4! All of our Academy members use to forget about it :) This exercise is perfect for brain develpment. If you practice it regularly, it is going to pay off in future.

Isabella just started the chromatic scale yesterday with her right hand from Do-Do forward and backward. She is doing really well.

This exercise is very helpful for improving the 'piano' hand of students. Playing it with both hands is very difficult - there are different fingering in R and L hands in parallel motion - but it is incredibly good for Isabel's corpus callosum (the bridge between R and L hemispheres)

However, I do not know what to practice when it comes to songs. She knows a lot of pieces but not by heart she can play them well on P1 or P3 even P2 and P4. Where do I start on trying to memorize the pieces?

Choose her favorite piece, press R and let her play it, after that press R and h. 'H' stands for hide. Ask her to play it with the notes hidden. If she will have a wrong guess, the answer will pop out instantly. After that do the same thing with L and P.

If she will play the entire song on PH and make no mistakes, let me know. The next step will be playing alone with the TEACHING video.

I understand to break up a song to by four and do it on the right side and left side and I don't want to overwhelm her and myself with songs. What songs should we work on?

Hide the segments of the songs. This is even better! Chose your FAVORITE.

For June and the part of July we have been working on Turkish March, Ode to Joy and A New Year's Tree. (The only song that she knows by heart is Hot Cross Buns and maybe French Song)

Hm... tough choice: Ode to Joy is hard for memorization. Tell Izabella that if she will manage to memorize it, she will be a HERO and get my little present for it. If not, its ok.

Would you like to start something new in addition to Ode to Joy? Boogie 1: Rock group or Boogie Rock Boogie would be an excellent choice for you!

This is such a wonderful picture! Thank you so much for sharing it! Say 'Hi!' to Anthony from me! I am looking forward to watching his 'Hot Cross Buns' very soon! ;)
